There’s so much in life we can’t control and even more that we don’t know we don't know. There’s an infinite range of knowledge out there, and we can’t know everything. One bucket in that infinite range is what others think about us. Sure, from time to time people offer us feedback and express what they are feeling and even then, words may not fully capture how they feel about us. What a relief!
When I think about the time I’ve wasted worrying about others' thoughts or thinking about something I was doing or wanted to do, I could almost get embarrassed, but that would be a waste of my time. Truth is, I’m grateful for my people-pleasing season; what I learned about myself during that time and the tools I’ve gained through that work have enabled me to help other leaders navigate through their phases of self-doubt and people-pondering.
A key mantra I’d offer anyone struggling to navigate worry about doubt based on what others think of them is - “It’s none of my business.”
It’s not your business what people think about your ideas, what you’re wearing, or your plans for 2025. Get to work, make your moves, and live your life.
At the core of what I’m offering here is a mindset shift. Mindset shifts are possible in your life, and a caring and competent coach can help you create a plan to move forward toward your goals. Let’s connect and talk more about coaching.
